Dating Advice

Don’t tell your life story on the first date.

Sometimes during a first date a person will start to divulge too much information about their life. The other person is left listening to stories that may make them feel awkward or sorry for the storyteller. Keep in mind the purpose of the first meeting with a potential dating partner is to gauge the similar interests and to discover an attraction that you have with each other . Sharing too much personal information can be a sign that the person is nervous or may lack the ability to carry on a conversation.

If you are ever in the situation on a first date where you feel the other person is sharing too much information and you think there is potential for a relationship, remind them that you don’t need to know everything at once. Explain to them you want to date them and learn about them as you go thru the relationship together. This should put them at ease and relax them so that their “true personality” comes through and not the person they think you want them to be.

Have you ever been on a first date and the other person started telling you their life story? If so, how did you handle it?
